It was great to visit MJ Sections Ltd in Netherton with Alex Ballinger MP to hear directly from the team about the challenges facing the steel sector and the pressures affecting manufacturers.

MJ Sections is a fantastic example of the highly skilled businesses we have in our area, supplying specialist components to major companies across aerospace, rail and power generation. It was inspiring to see the expertise, innovation and dedication that goes into supporting our wider manufacturing supply chains.

We discussed the concerns raised by the business around changes to steel tariffs and quotas, and the importance of ensuring UK manufacturers can access the materials they need to remain competitive.

Following engagement from businesses, important changes to steel quota arrangements have already been secured. I will continue to push for further support for our steel industry and make sure the voices of manufacturers are heard in Parliament.
