Dementia Research Showcase

It was fantastic to visit Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Dementia Research Showcase in Parliament and learn more about the ground breaking work being funded to improve diagnosis, treatment and care for people living with dementia.

The event brought together world leading researchers who are driving forward our understanding of dementia and working towards a future where no one is devastated by this disease.

This work couldn’t be more important. Across Stourbridge, Brierley Hill and Netherton, around 1,400 people are living with dementia. Yet people in our area face an average wait of 193 days for a diagnosis, significantly higher than the national average of 156 days.

Early diagnosis can make a huge difference, helping people access support, plan for the future and improve their quality of life. That’s why I’m committed to championing better dementia services locally, challenging closures and cuts, and supporting the vital research that will help us find new treatments.
