A vibrant new display of community created artwork is now on show around Stourbridge Ring Road, as part of the inspiring Hearts of Stourbridge project led by King Edward VI College, Stourbridge, in collaboration with local artist Luke Perry.
MP Cat Eccles joined students from King Edward VI College and artist Luke Perry to design and produce flags that celebrate community spirit, equality, and civic pride.
Cat Eccles MP played a key role in supporting the project, taking part in the workshops alongside Cllr Jason Griffin and creating her own flag to contribute to the display. She also supported the college in helping to bring the installation to life around Stourbridge Ring Road, where the flags are now proudly on show.
Speaking about the project, Cat Eccles MP said:
“It was fantastic to support King Edward VI College, local artist Luke Perry, and Powered by CAN once again in bringing this project to life. The workshops were a brilliant opportunity to see creativity in action and how it can bring people together. I really enjoyed creating my own flag and contributing to something that reflects the strength and spirit of our community.”
She added:
“I’m so pleased to see the flags now on display for everyone to enjoy. Projects like this remind us how powerful art can be in telling our shared story and celebrating what makes Stourbridge such a special place.
The flags will remain on display for the next four weeks, offering residents and visitors a chance to experience this colourful celebration of local identity and creativity.
Thanks to Luke Perry and the students of King Edward VI College for their positive contribution, as well as to Arts Council England for funding the workshops and Dudley Council for granting permission for the public display.”
