Yesterday I joined Network Rail to see the work they’ve been doing to repair the railway following the fires. There was extensive damage to track, drainage, fencing, signals and nearby trees. Teams have been working night and day to get the line back up and running.

I’m incredibly grateful to all the workers who not only spent Thursday alongside firefighters, but have worked at pace to make the necessary repairs. Several damaged trees have been felled and new fences installed along the line.

The line should be fully reopen by Saturday 22nd August, please check before you travel on West Midlands Railway or Network Rail
