Stourbridge Powerhaus housing project

Richard Parker – Mayor of the West Midlands and I caught up with Eddy Morton about the Stourbridge Powerhaus project on Enville Street. The scheme has been a long time in the making and clearance of the site has finally taken place with the build due to start in the next few weeks.

This exciting project is being developed by Stourbridge Community Land Trust and Green Square Accord for 11 apartments for social rental, plus a shared workspace, rooftop garden, and solar panels.

Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are non profit organisations run by ordinary people who want to make a difference in their communities. They ensure that homes are genuinely and permanently affordable and remain under the stewardship locally by the CLT.

Eddy is passionate about community housing projects and retaining assets in local ownership for local people. CLTs can be a key part of the future of affordable housing and community assets and I’m pleased this project has the backing of the Mayor and the Combined Authority. The Government also supports the delivery of community led homes and last year invested £20m to support CLT housing projects.
