Welcoming the Minister to the Stourbridge Glass Museum

It was a pleasure to welcome Minister for Industry, Chris McDonald MP to Stourbridge Glass Museum to showcase the incredible work being done to protect our world renowned glassmaking heritage while embracing new, sustainable ways of working.

Stourbridge has been at the heart of glassmaking for generations, and this visit highlighted how innovation and tradition can work hand in hand.

A particular highlight was seeing the bespoke electric kiln, developed to significantly reduce the energy required for glass production. This is a fantastic example of how our heritage industries can lead the way in creating a more sustainable future.

A huge thank you to Alexander Goodger and the team at Stourbridge Glass Museum for hosting us and for their continued work in preserving our proud glassmaking heritage while championing the innovation and creativity shaping its future.

From the 10th July, the museum are hosting a new exhibition entitled shines a spotlight on glassmaking techniques that are endangered, critically endangered or even extinct in the UK, reminding us of the importance of protecting these remarkable crafts and the specialist knowledge that has been passed down through generations.
