Radio 4 Today – Rosebank

This week the public consultation on the Rosebank oil fields ended and I spoke on Radio 4’s Today programme about why we should expand renewables and upgrade the grid, not drill in the North Sea.

When Andy Burnham visited Stourbridge last week to see the devastation of the fires, he rightly said we need to take climate change seriously. We can’t do that by standing by the fossil fuel industry.

Fuel prices are set by international markets and more drilling will not bring down bills. We need to speed up decoupling gas and electric prices and move away from fossil fuels once and for all.
